App Store Indie Games Week began on October 12, bringing a fresh group of independent games to iPhone and iPad. There is one date worth separating from the promotion: No Man’s Sky arrives on October 28. Apple’s seven-game spotlight therefore combines games you can play now with a release that is still ahead.

What is available this week?
Apple’s announcement features Sifu, Vampire Crawlers, Little Kitty, Big City, 9 Kings, Dome Keeper and Yes, Your Grace 2: Snowfall alongside the upcoming space adventure. Check each listing in your own store region before buying; a featured collection does not give every title the same price or requirements.
A later date for No Man’s Sky
Apple gives No Man’s Sky a specific mobile release date of October 28. Its announcement says the edition includes the major expansions released so far, including Cosmos. A preorder is not a download you can start playing today. That distinction matters if you are choosing something for this weekend.
Sifu makes the buying checks concrete
The U.S. Sifu listing, checked on October 13, shows a $7.99 price, a 2.1 GB download and an iOS 18.0 minimum. It also carries an 18+ age rating. These figures describe that listing, rather than a price promise for every country.
- Check your iPhone’s installed iOS version against the listing’s minimum.
- Leave space for the download and installation, rather than assuming the listed file size is all you need.
- Choose touch controls or a compatible controller according to how you prefer to play.
The developer describes new mobile touch controls, a revised camera system and full controller support. Those are useful differences from simply moving a console game onto a smaller screen. However, a compatibility minimum does not tell you how smoothly a particular older iPhone will run the game. We have not benchmarked this release.
A different choice from an Arcade subscription
Our coverage of October’s Apple Arcade arrivals describes a separate catalog. Do not assume an Arcade subscription covers a game because Apple promotes it during App Store Indie Games Week. Look at the purchase button and the listing’s terms for the individual title.
For a purchase today, compare the game’s actual availability, price and device requirements first. For No Man’s Sky, the useful decision is whether to preorder or wait for the October 28 release and more information about the mobile experience. The promotional artwork groups them together; your buying decision does not have to.
