App Store Group Subscriptions Enter November Testing, Not a Public Launch
An invitation to share a subscription is still ahead for ordinary App Store customers. November 2026 brings developers the ability to configure and test group purchases in a Sandbox Apple Account. Apple's public release window is winter. Those two dates refer to different stages, even though both appear in the same October 22 announcement.

Businesses and schools have an earlier route. Apple says multiseat purchases for organizations became available on October 22. It is worth knowing which arrangement an app is offering before buying another individual subscription for work or assuming you can invite other people to an existing one.
An organization buys and assigns seats
The organizational route uses Apple Business or Apple School Manager. A business or educational institution purchases the seats it needs through one Apple In-App Purchase, then assigns and manages them with its existing device-management tools. It can add or remove seats when its needs change.
For an employee or student, the first person to ask is therefore the organization's administrator. Confirm that the required app and a seat have actually been assigned. A platform supporting volume purchases does not establish that your organization has bought the subscription you need.
Developers also retain a choice. Apple says multiseat purchasing is enabled by default in App Store Connect unless the developer previously adjusted it, and availability can be changed. This describes a default setting, not a guarantee that every paid app has a multiseat offer.
What a November sandbox test means
Group purchases would let a person buy several subscription seats and invite others to use them. Apple's November milestone lets developers prepare and test that arrangement. The notice specifically places those tests in a Sandbox Apple Account.
That is not a public purchase button for all iPhone owners. Apple gives winter as the consumer availability window, without an exact launch day. The notice supplies neither a standard seat price nor a complete list of participating subscriptions.
Until the option appears for the particular app, keep checking its current purchase choices. There is no promise here that several existing individual subscriptions will merge into one group purchase. Cancelling a working plan in anticipation would be a decision based on a feature that has not yet reached that public stage.
A licence still needs a compatible device
One more check belongs beside the seat count: what can each person's device run? Our Apple Creator Studio November update coverage shows how features within one subscription can have different hardware, software and language requirements across iPhone and Mac.
Buying access and meeting those requirements are separate steps. An assigned seat does not upgrade a phone, and an invitation does not establish support for every included tool. Before committing to a shared arrangement, identify both the purchase option available today and the requirements of the feature each person intends to use.
